At few times each week, the parents of our young patients ask us questions about the safety and benefits of having fluoride in their drinking water. Our practice draws patients from a wide area across our county and beyond. Many of them live in communities that do not have access to public water fortified with this important element.
Last month, MouthHealthy.org (the ADA’s consumer website), released “A Mom’s Guide to Fluoride” which features commentary and a question-and-answer interview with Dr. Brittany Seymour, an assistant professor of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She also serves on the ADA National Fluoridation Advisory Committee and has a 3-year old daughter. It is certainly worth a visit to the site if you have young children or just have questions about the topic.
