The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), of which I am a proud member, is supporting a new, three-year multimedia campaign designed to educate parents and caregivers on how to improve our children’s oral health in simple ways.
The AGD is a member of the Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives which is a first-of its-kind national dental coalition comprised of 35 leading dental health organizations. Other orgaizations included in the partnership are the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Oral Health America and more.
The Partnership, founded on the belief that no child should experience pain and suffer broader health issues resulting from untreated dental disease and conditions, has collaborated with the Ad Council to create TV and radio public service ads, in both English and Spanish, that demonstrate the importance of brushing twice a day for 2 minutes.
The campaign will also provide parents and caregivers with resources through a special campaign website, www.2min2x.org. The website includes a section where parents and children can watch entertaining videos and listen to music-all 2 minutes in length- while the children are brushing their teeth. They can be played on an iPad or other media players connected to the web.
