Do you take my insurance?
What is a Non-Participating Provider?
Taking full advantage of the insurance benefits that you purchase, or that your employer provides, is important to all of us. We want to feel that we are not wasting a valuable commodity by either not using it at all or not using it to the fullest extent possible.
When prospective new patients hear that we are an “Out-of- Network Provider”, they may get discouraged and think that they cannot choose us as their new dental office. This is absolutely not the case at all. Most insurance companies will allow their subscribers to choose any dentist that they want. Many of these insurance providers will pay close to the full fee that we charge for our services. There is usually a balance left over once they send the check to you or directly to our office. We then ask our patient to pay the difference. If your insurance plan is robust, then the amount is very small. In some cases, we actually will owe you money if they pay more than our fee! Two local groups who have great payment schedules for our practice fees are the West Chester Area School District and UPS!

What if I have to see an “In-Network Provider”?
However, there are situations where your insurance plan dictates that you must see an “In-Network Provider” in order to have any dental insurance benefit. In those circumstances, you can still see us but you will be responsible for the entire amount and have to pay out of pocket. The only way to know if this is how your plan works is to contact your insurance benefits manager, the insurance company directly or ask one of our front desk team members to look into this for you. We may not be able to get the answer immediately, but we will work at it until we know the answer. If this is your situation, we then have other options for you.
Navigating the pitfalls of dental insurance can be challenging but we are here for you to help you along the way. If you have any questions, we are just a phone call or an email away!
