Time

It is hard to believe that it has been two years since we moved to our new home in the North Hills Building. It is just as hard to believe that we still have a few boxes that remain unopened from that move!

This is just another example to me of how quickly we move through life. We get so caught up in our hourly, daily, weekly activities that we barely notice that the calendar has changed to a new month, a new year, even a new decade. Don’t look now, but 2010 is right around the corner. And we thought that all of our computers would have stopped running when the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2000…

Dr. Jane and I attended our 15 year dental school reunion in Richmond, Va. this past April. I am our class reunion chairman so it was part of my job to motivate as many classmates to attend as possible. Only about 20% of the class returned this time. Most of them gave the same excuses that we all use; too busy with work, conflicts with children’s sports, too far to travel. This latest reunion gave me a better appreciation for time and how all of us “busy” people view it. If we are careless with our the most important things in life; our families, old friendships, our professional careers- will all pass us by and we will barely notice it.
